Requested Building Permits Decline

(College Station) - The City of College Station issued 53 permits for new single-family homes during May 2008, down from 76 in May 2007. Total valuation for the May 2008 permits was $8.2 million, or an average of $60.34 per sf. May 2007 valuation totaled $10.4 million. Year-to-date single-family permits total 300 at $45.3 million and $69.76 per sf. Three permits were issued during May 2008 for duplex projects, up from zero in May 2007. Total valuation in May 2008 stood at $500,610, or $66 per sf. The year-to-date total of 34 permits is up from 25 in 2007. Permits were issued for two apartment projects bringing a total of eight units. Total valuation was $781,555, or $65.33 per sf. This brings year-to-date totals to 19 permits (including 156 units) at a total valuation of $10.1 million and $56.69 per sf. This was down slightly from 23 permits in 2007 at $25 million.
